The Ministry of Natural Resources has condemned the circulation of false information about fuel prices on social media.

This follows a false statement that was circulating online stating that the Ministry would be implementing a fuel price decrease this month.

In a statement, the Ministry’s Communications Officer Sikelela Khoza cautioned the public against the false statements circulating on social media.

“This misinformation is intended to cause confusion and chaos among fuel consumers, retailers, and oil companies. Please note that fuel prices are not adjusted without prior notice from the Ministry and official announcements are only made through verified channels as well as local media houses,” he said.

Khoza further stated that the Ministry condemns the circulation of false information about fuel prices.

“We caution the public against believing or sharing such misinformation. Furthermore, we wish to warn those responsible for creating and disseminating false information that their actions will not be tolerated,” he added.
