Flamboyant Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe is pulling all stops in his quest to own a team in the professional ranks of South African football.
Already, an owner of two ABC Motsepe League sides, Ally’s Tigers and Garankuwa United, Kgomongwe has tabled an E10 million offer to buy 70 per cent shares in Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Polokwane City Rovers.
The North-West side, who are based in Gauteng but play home games at Olen Park Stadium in Potchefstroom is under the stewardship of businessman Tyzer Tlou Temo. ‘Bakone’ as Polokwane City Rovers are affectionately known survived relegation from the Motsepe Foundation by a whisker in the recently ended 2022/2023 season.
Eswatini Financial Times has exclusively gathered that Kgomongwe has made the E10 million bid through his lawyer, Mandla Tshabalala of PM Tshabalala Incorporated who has already presented it to Tyzer Tlou Temo, the chairman of Polokwane City Rovers.

Temo interviewed on Wednesday confirmed to this publication that he has already spoken to Tshabalala about the offer, but was yet to meet Kgomongwe to conclude the talks.
“I know the Chief since our childhood days. He also runs a security company like myself, so we will sit down and reach an agreement in terms of the percentages and the figure. I intend to move the team to Gauteng permanently since we are training in Gauteng but we play our games in North-West at Olen Park Stadium. Teams in Gauteng get a lot of support from the Gauteng Provincial Government. We will conclude the talks with Kgomomgwe once we have met and have had a discussion,” Temo said.
Kgomongwe also confirmed he has put submitted a bid to buy shares at the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Polokwane City Rovers.
“I am very much interested in buying shares at Polokwane City Rovers and have made a solid bid because I want to help the team reach the PSL status, which is a possibility with proper planning and resources. They were nearly relegated in the past season because of a lack of resources. My lawyer Mandla Tshabalala is handling the deal,” Kgomongwe said.

Asked if buying shares at the Motsepe Foundation Championship side would not affect his attachment at Highlanders, Kgomongwe said he will cross the bridge when he gets to it.
“It would be premature for me to say whether I remain Highlanders’ director or not after buying the shares at Polokwane City Rovers. We will see how it goes once the bid sale deal has been concluded with Tyzer,” Kgomongwe added.
